But addresses aren't people.
An address is a slot on the blockchain, not a person or a wallet. One person can control thousands of addresses; a single exchange holds millions of customers' coins in just a few. Coins that are lost forever still count here too. So read this as a count of addresses, never a headcount of people.

What does this mean for you?
Read the address count and Bitcoin-held chart together. If both move up, more addresses and more coins are settling in this middle range. If only one moves, boundary crossings or balances being rearranged may be driving the change.
Understanding Addresses With a Balance Between 1 and 100 BTC
This page counts only addresses holding at least 1 Bitcoin but less than 100 Bitcoin. It joins the 1 to 10 and 10 to 100 balance bands into one non-overlapping medium-size group and follows its history.
Addresses are not people. One owner can spread coins across many addresses, and an exchange or company can hold for many customers in one address. Read the count as addresses in this range, not the number of individual owners.
A rising or falling count can reflect buying and spending, but it can also reflect addresses crossing the 1 BTC or 100 BTC boundary. The two charts keep the address count and the coins held separate so those changes are easier to read.
