Liquid Network Hack: $300M Taken, Hackers Claim White-Hat Status
Purported white-hat hackers drained roughly 4,000 BTC from Blockstream's Liquid Network federation wallet. Most has been returned, but around 600 BTC worth $47 million is still missing, the sidechain remains paused, and the credibility of Bitcoin's major layer-2 infrastructure has taken a visible hit.

Liquid Hackers Return Most BTC but Keep $47M; Sidechain Still Frozen
The attackers sent back roughly 3,400 BTC after Blockstream patched the underlying Elements vulnerability, but nearly 600 BTC has not come back. With the network still offline and no restart date confirmed, exchanges that rely on Liquid remain unable to process LBTC deposits and withdrawals.

US consumer prices rose 0.4% in August and core CPI beat forecasts, giving the Federal Reserve a fresh reason to raise rates rather than cut them. Bitcoin slid on the news, and with rate-hike odds now above 60%, cheap money is firmly off the table for the near term.
