Bitcoin was born under a Japanese name. Its inventor signed off as Satoshi Nakamoto, handed the world a new kind of money, then vanished without a trace, leaving behind a revolution and the most famous unsolved identity in finance.
We took our name from the same place it all began. マーケット (māketto) is Japanese for "market." Soften the long vowel, drop a T, and it becomes Maketo.
