How does each group compare?
Size of holding Profit locked in Losses locked in Net 10,000+ BTC $11M $42M -$32M 1,000 to 10,000 BTC $41M $69M -$29M 100 to 1,000 BTC $43M $235M -$192M 10 to 100 BTC $78M $64M $14M 1 to 10 BTC $58M $43M $15M 0.1 to 1 BTC $23M $19M $3M 0.01 to 0.1 BTC $4M $6M -$1M What should you keep in mind?
Moving is not the same as selling. These figures count every coin that changed addresses, including coins someone shuffled between their own wallets and the change that comes back from a normal payment. A group is credited by the size it was at the moment its coins moved.
The daily figures are rolling sums over the past day, not a calendar day, so they update through the day rather than resetting at midnight.
A profit is counted when a coin moves at a higher price than the one it last moved at, a loss when it moves lower. The two are shown separately because a big day can lock in both at once.
What does this mean for you?
Heavy profit-taking after a run-up is normal; the question is who is doing it. When the biggest groups lock in profit while small holders keep buying, the sellers usually have the better record. Heavy losses across every group tend to appear near washed-out bottoms, when holders finally give up.
The balance view divides profit by loss. Far above 1, moves are overwhelmingly profitable; near 1, the market is split; below 1, more money is being given up than locked in.
