BITCOIN SPENT VOLUME BY COIN AGE
Which age groups are moving their coins?
Every coin that moves gets counted by how long it had sat still, from fresh coins to ten-year veterans, each age with its own line.
Coins aged 1 to 2 years: BTC moved per day
Each line is the Bitcoin moved per day by coins of one age, across history. The scale rises by powers of ten so the quiet old groups and the loud young ones fit in one picture. Pick a group above to frame the chart to its range.

Are old coins on the move?
A trickle of old coins movedCoins that had sat for five years or more moved 499 BTC over the past day. For scale, coins that last moved within the past day churned 521,046 BTC — the young coins always dominate the flow.

Moving is not the same as selling. These figures count every coin that changed addresses, including coins someone shuffled between their own wallets and the change that comes back from a normal payment. Read the levels as honest ceilings, not exact sales figures.
The daily figures are rolling sums over the past day, not a calendar day, so they update through the day rather than resetting at midnight.
The eleven groups cover every coin exactly once, so the shares add up to 100%. A coin joins a group by how long it had sat still when it moved.
What does this mean for you?
Young coins churning is the market's normal weather: coins bought recently change hands constantly. The signal lives at the old end. Coins that sat for years move rarely, and when a real wave of them wakes up at once, it has often meant long-time holders acting on a strong opinion about the price.
Use the table for today and the chart for the pattern: pick an old group and look for its spikes. This page describes movement, not intent — it cannot say whether a move was a sale, a custody change, or an old wallet reorganizing. Not a prediction or advice to buy or sell.
Understanding Bitcoin Spent Volume by Coin Age
When a coin moves, the chain knows exactly how long it sat still beforehand. This page groups the past day's moved coins into eleven age groups, from coins that last moved within a day to coins that had been still for over ten years, and tracks each group's daily volume across the full history.
The eleven groups cover every moved coin exactly once, so their shares add up to 100% of the day's movement. Young coins dominate every single day: coins bought recently change hands constantly, while old coins move rarely. That contrast is the point, not a flaw.
Old coins waking up is one of the chain's loudest signals. A coin that sat for five or ten years belongs to someone with proven patience, so a genuine wave of old coins moving at once means long-time holders acting on a strong view of the price. Past cycle turns saw exactly those waves.
One honest caveat: moving is not the same as selling. These figures count every coin that changed addresses, including wallet reshuffles and the change from ordinary payments. A move can be a sale, a custody change, or an old wallet reorganizing; this page reports the movement and leaves the intent honest and unknown.
