Bitcoin Network Health

How strong is Bitcoin's network right now?

One 0 to 100 reading brings seven measures of the network together, with every ingredient visible.

The score runs from 0 to 100 against the network's own history. Lower is quieter, higher is busier and stronger, and the bands behind the line name each stretch.

Right now

Fees are lower than usual, with light demand to use the network, but more transactions than usual are moving.

Some measures disagree: four of the seven read busy, one reads quiet and two sit in the middle.

What goes into the reading?Seven measures of how the network is running

Each one is compared with its own history, then blended by the weights below. The score itself is smoothed over about a week.

What changed recently?

Five measures moved enough this month to be worth naming.

  • Rose: Mining difficulty stepped upDifficulty changed +4.2% on 2026-09-19. That's 2 up-retargets in a row. The network keeps ratcheting up how hard mining is.
  • Rose: Mining power kept climbingMining power is up 7.2% over the month, up 0.4% on the week. More computing power keeps coming online.
  • Miner margins are very tightRevenue per unit is 91% below its 2020-era peak. Even with mining power near record, the per-machine reward stays thin. Only the cheapest electricity wins.
  • Rose: Network use is in the top quartileDaily activity is in the top 6% of its 2-year range, more people transacting than usual.
  • Rose: Fee demand picked upThe typical fee is around $0.37 per transaction. Easy on users, but it also means demand to use the network is soft.

The arrow shows which way it moved. The colour shows whether that left the network busier or quieter.

Understanding
Bitcoin Network Health

Where it stands today

Bitcoin's network health score is 59 out of 100, which reads steady as of .

How is this score built?

This reading blends seven measures of Bitcoin's network: mining power, mining difficulty, miner earnings, transactions, fees, large transactions, and wallet growth. Each measure is compared with its own history before the results are blended into one score. Lower readings mark quieter stretches and higher readings mark busier, stronger stretches. It describes the network, not what the price will do next.

What do the numbers on the dial mean?

The dial runs from 0 to 100, where 0 is as quiet as this reading gets and 100 as busy and strong. 0 to 20 reads very quiet, 20 to 40 reads quiet, 40 to 60 reads steady, 60 to 80 reads busy, 80 and above reads thriving. The same bands sit behind the line on the chart, so a day's place on the chart and the word beside the dial are the same fact.

Do the seven measures count equally?

No. They are weighted: mining power 22%, mining difficulty 10%, miner revenue 8%, daily activity 15%, fee demand 12%, large transactions 8%, wallet growth 25%. The weights are fixed, so a change in the score is a change in what the network did and never a change in how it is counted. A measure with no fresh reading stays visible and is marked rather than quietly counted as ordinary.

Can I add the weights up myself?

Yes, and it is worth saying what you will land on. The shares above describe today's reading, which works out at 64. The number at the top of the page smooths that over about a week, with the most recent days counting for more, so one unusual day cannot swing it.

Does a strong network mean the price will rise?

No. A stronger network does not guarantee a higher Bitcoin price, and this page is not advice. The score describes how the network ran on 28 Sep 2026: how much power is securing it, how hard it is to mine, what miners earn, and how much it is being used.

Why can the measures disagree with each other?

Because they run on their own clocks. Mining power moves daily, difficulty only re-adjusts about every two weeks, fees swing with a single busy afternoon, and wallet growth changes slowly. A day where mining power eases while transactions climb is an ordinary day, not a contradiction, and the score is what those seven come to together.

Why show a measure that does not count?

Because the miner revenue band answers the same question from an angle the seven do not, and because a score that quietly swallowed every number within reach would be impossible to check. It sits beside the score with its own reading, linked to the page it comes from, and the score stays the seven.
