Understanding
Bitcoin Historical Returns
Where it stands today
Bitcoin is −4.69% in 2026 so far, measured from the year's first price to its latest close. Across the whole record November is the strongest calendar month, averaging +34.30% as of .
What one month's return measures
Each monthly return compares its opening price with its final recorded close. The year total measures that year's own opening-to-closing change. It is not the sum of the monthly returns.
Why the columns hold different numbers of readings
The average row uses every available reading for that month, including the unfinished month marked with an asterisk. The record begins in July 2010, so the columns do not all have the same number of readings.
What these patterns can and cannot tell you
Past patterns do not tell us what happens next. Open a year to see the daily prices behind a move, or compare different periods before drawing a conclusion.
