BITCOIN NVT SIGNAL
Is the price backed by real use?
What the whole Bitcoin network is worth, against the money that moves across it. A high reading means the price has climbed faster than that money. A low one means the money has kept up.
Bitcoin's value against the money crossing the network
A higher reading means the price is running ahead of the money actually crossing the network. A lower one means the network is moving more for what the market charges. The scale squeezes the bigger readings so the whole record fits in one view.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price against network use | 25.94 | 24.39 | −1.55 | −6.0% |
Right now
Next to Bitcoin's price, the network is moving more money than usual for the last four years.
The reading is 24.39: the average, over the last 90 days, of what the whole network is worth divided by the money that crossed it that day. A bigger number means the price is further ahead of that traffic.
Against the last four years
Use ahead of price
In the lower part of its four-year ranking, at the 27th percentile. The weekly average is higher than it was on 27% of the days in the last four years, and lower than on the other 73%. Averaged over about a week the reading is 24.48, between the lowest weekly average of those four years, 6.43, and the highest, 36.05.
Each reading already averages the 90 days behind it, and the ranking averages that again over about a week, so one unusual day moves either only a little.
What changed
The reading fell from 26.04 to 24.39 over the past month, since 28 Aug 2026.
It rises when the price climbs faster than the money crossing the network, and falls when the money crossing it grows faster.
For you
More money is crossing the network, next to what the market charges for it, than usually did over the last four years.
What to watch from here
- Watch whether the reading keeps sliding down its four-year ranking or turns back toward the middle.
This counts the money moving on the blockchain itself. Payments settled inside an exchange, or on a layer built over Bitcoin, never appear here.

What does this chart measure?
It divides what the whole Bitcoin network is worth by the money that crossed it in a day. Coins moving on the blockchain, the public record every transfer is written to, are counted at what they were worth as they moved. Each day's reading is the average of that division over the last 90 days, so one busy day does not throw it off. A high reading means the price has climbed faster than that traffic. A low one means the traffic has kept up, or run ahead. That is why the record opens the way it does: for its first 90 days, part of the stretch each reading averages lies before the first reading, where there is nothing to count. So it begins on 16 Aug 2010 at 0.6, its lowest point, and reaches 99.71, its highest, on 14 Nov 2010, once the 90 days behind it are all readings.
Why compare it with the last four years?
There is no level that means expensive in every year, because the reading drifts as the network grows. So each day's reading, averaged over about a week, is ranked against the same weekly average on every day of the last four years, and the page's five bands follow that ranking from its bottom to its top.
What does it miss?
Only money that moves on the blockchain itself is counted. A payment settled inside an exchange, or on a faster layer built over Bitcoin, never touches it, so as those layers grow this reading understates how much the network is used. Read it beside the other cheap-or-expensive measures, not on its own. Open the price-against-what-people-paid read.
Does a high reading mean the price falls next?
No. Wide gaps have closed both ways: sometimes the money crossing the network caught up, sometimes the price came back. A reading can also sit at either end for months. It says where the price sits against network use today, not what happens next, and it is not advice to buy or sell.
