BITCOIN ETF HOLDINGS
Which funds hold Bitcoin?
Every US fund that holds real Bitcoin for the people who own its shares, how much each one holds, and their combined total day by day.
Bitcoin held by the US spot Bitcoin funds
The funds' combined holding on each day since Jan 11, 2024. It starts well above zero because GBTC joined that day already holding 617,557 Bitcoin. After that the line rises when people put money in and the funds buy, and falls when they take money out and the funds sell.
Right now
The 12 US Bitcoin funds hold 1,260,607 Bitcoin between them, worth $102.5 billion.
That is 6.28% of all the Bitcoin mined so far. Counted on Sep 18, 2026, every fund on the same day.
Who holds the most?
The biggest is the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), with 787,426 Bitcoin. That is 62.5% of everything these funds hold.
The three biggest, IBIT, FBTC and GBTC, hold 86.3% between them.
Has it been growing?
The funds hold 30,565 more Bitcoin than they did thirty days ago.
A fund buys Bitcoin when people put money in and sells when they take money out, so this rises and falls with the money.
Do they hold more than the companies?
Yes. They hold more than every company and government on the treasury pages put together, which come to 1,163,122 Bitcoin.
The funds are counted on Sep 18, 2026 and the companies and governments on Sep 21, 2026. The funds' coins belong to the people who own their shares, which is why they are kept out of the company total.
Has a fund ever closed?
Yes. Hashdex's DEFI stopped trading on Aug 17, 2026, and it is no longer counted here.
When a fund closes its shareholders are paid out and its coins leave the count, so it is named here rather than dropped from the page.

Understanding
Bitcoin ETF Holdings
Where it stands today
Bitcoin ETF Holdings is 1,260,607 BTC as of .
What is a Bitcoin fund?
A fund you buy on the stock market, like a share in a company. Each share is backed by real Bitcoin that the fund buys and keeps with a custodian, a company paid to store it safely. It lets people invest in Bitcoin's price without holding the coins themselves. These are often called spot Bitcoin ETFs.
Why does the total move?
When people buy new shares, the fund buys Bitcoin to back them. When they sell shares back, the fund sells Bitcoin. So the total rises and falls with the money going in and out, which the Bitcoin ETF page follows day by day. Money in and out of the funds.
Whose Bitcoin is it?
The shareholders'. A fund holds the coins for the people who own its shares, not for itself. That is why these coins have their own page rather than a place in the company total, where every coin belongs to the company that bought it.
How are these counts made?
One note on the coin counts above. The funds themselves only began publishing what they hold recently, so for the older part of this record we work the number out from the money that went in and the Bitcoin price on the day it arrived. It is close rather than exact, and it gets firmer every month as more published counts come in.
