Understanding OKX Bitcoin Liquidations

Where it stands today

Bets on a rise worth $3.0 million were closed out by force on OKX as of .

Bets on a fall worth $1.2 million were closed out by force on OKX as of .

A trader using leverage puts up collateral. When the price moves against the position far enough that the collateral no longer covers it, OKX closes the position itself rather than waiting. That forced closure is a liquidation, and it is a real sale or purchase hitting the market at whatever price is there.

The two sides are separated because they mean opposite things. Bets on a rise being closed out happen when the price falls, and the closing sells push it down further. Bets on a fall being closed out happen when the price rises, and the closing buys push it up further. A large one-sided day is usually the tail of a move rather than the start of one.

What is counted here is what OKX published as it happened. A quiet day is a quiet day, and it is shown as one rather than left blank, but a day with no reading at all is a gap in the recording and the page says so instead of printing a zero. A zero would be a claim about the exchange.
