Understanding OKX Bitcoin Long Short Ratio

Where it stands today

On OKX, accounts betting the price goes up against accounts betting it goes down stand at 1.585 to 1 as of .

The long/short ratio counts accounts betting the price goes up against accounts betting it goes down. Above 1 means more are betting up. It is a headcount, so it says nothing about how much money is behind either side: a thousand small accounts betting up and one very large account betting down produce a ratio that looks lopsided and a market that is not.

That is why the biggest traders are shown separately, and twice. One line counts them by account and the other weights them by the size of the position each one holds. When those two disagree, a few large positions are leaning against the crowd of big accounts, and that gap is usually more interesting than either number by itself.

A lopsided ratio is not a signal on its own. Crowded positions do get squeezed, which is why traders watch it, but they also stay crowded for weeks. Read it beside what it costs to hold the crowded side, on OKX's funding page.
