BITCOIN 2-YEAR MA MULTIPLIER
Is Bitcoin below its two-year average price?
Put today's price beside its own two-year average.
Below its two-year averageOn the cheap side
Daily close,0.94× the two-year averageBoth levels rise with the average, so an old peak price is not the same level now.
Price against its two-year average
1× means price sits exactly on its two-year average. Below that has been the cheap side. The dashed line marks five times the average, the level past peaks ran into. Equal steps on the scale are equal percentage moves, so the whole history fits one view.
Bitcoin price uses its own scale on the right. Compare the timing of the moves, not how far apart the two lines look.

Right now
Bitcoin is on the cheap side of where it has traded against its two-year average.
At the 28 Sep 2026 close, price was $83,463 against a two-year average of $88,619, 0.94× that average.
What changed
The reading moved up from 0.89× to 0.94× over the past 31 days, since 28 Aug 2026.

Against its own history
It has been lower than this 25% of the time and higher 75% of the time, across its whole history. Price has closed under its two-year average on 1,416 of the 5,189 days since July 2012, 27% of them.
It has closed at 5× or more on 249 of the same 5,189 days, 5% of them, which is why that level marks the stretched end rather than a ceiling price cannot pass.
What to watch from here
- Price stands at 0.94× its two-year average, which is $83,463 against $88,619. It is under the average itself, the cheap side.
- The two-year average takes in 730 daily closes, so it barely moves in a day. Getting back to the average would take a rise of 6.2% from that close.
- Watch for price holding above $88,619, the average itself, rather than slipping back under it.
How to read it
This is a slow, big-picture gauge. It moves in years, not days.
It says where price sits against a very long average, not when that will change. A reading can sit under the average for a year and over it for two. The 200-day average tells a faster version of the same story.
Understanding
2-Year Moving Average Multiplier
Where it stands today
Bitcoin's price is 0.94× its two-year average as of .
What does this chart measure?
The 2-Year Moving Average Multiplier is Bitcoin's price divided by its average over the past two years, the average of the last 730 daily closes. A reading of 1.00× means price equals that average. 0.90× means it is 10% under it, and 2.00× means twice it. The line is that reading every day since July 2012.
Which readings matter?
Two levels frame it. Under 1× price is below its own two-year average, a low-side level that has lined up with past lows, and one price has closed at on 1,416 of 5,189 published days. At the other end, past cycle tops pushed price to roughly five times that average, which only 249 days, 5% of them, have reached.
Why is the scale squeezed?
Bitcoin has closed at four tenths of its two-year average and at nearly eighteen times it. The chart uses a scale where equal steps are equal percentage moves, so the early years and the recent ones share one view instead of the recent ones being pressed against the floor. The legend and the tooltip print the exact reading.
Why two years?
Two years of closes is long enough to cover most of a Bitcoin cycle, so the average barely reacts to a single month. That is the point: the reading moves slowly, and it says where price sits in the wider cycle rather than what happened this week. On 28 Sep 2026 that average stood at $88,619.
Does a low reading mean price has bottomed?
No. Price has stayed under this average for months at a time, and above it for years. It measures distance from a very slow average, not timing. It is a guide, not a guarantee, and it is not advice to buy or sell.
How is this different from the 200-day average?
The 200-day average takes about a quarter as many days, so it turns much faster and its stretched end sits far lower. Use that page for where price sits against its recent trend, and this one for where it sits in the wider cycle. Open the 200-day average.
