How do I read this table?

Each row is a group of Bitcoin coins. Pick a tab to group them by who holds them, by how long they have sat still, or by the size of the pile they sit in. The numbers cover the last 24 hours and move a little with every new block.

What does paper gain mean?

It compares what a group’s coins are worth today with what their holders paid for them. Plus 40% means the coins stand 40% above their cost. Minus 5% means they stand 5% below. Nobody has sold yet, so it is a gain on paper only.

What are gains and losses locked in?

When a coin moves, the chain can tell what it cost when it last moved. If it moves for more than that, a gain is locked in. If it moves for less, a loss is locked in. The table adds up both over the last 24 hours, in dollars.

What is a pile?

A pile is a set of coins sitting together in one place on the chain. A person can hold many piles, so a group of big piles is not the same as a group of rich owners.

Why are some groups missing?

Swing traders, the biggest owners, the top 1% to 50% of holders, exchanges and miners are worked out overnight from our own records. The chain does not label them block by block, so we do not show them here yet.

Why do I need to sign in?

The page and the first row are open to everyone. The full live table is for signed-in readers. Signing in uses an email code and takes a moment.

Does this say where the price is going?

No. It says what groups of holders just did. Heavy selling at a loss and quiet days are both normal, and neither one tells you what the price does next.
