Bitcoin 5 and 15 minute up or down windows
What is happening in the current 5 and 15 minute windows?
Time left, the move so far, and what followed the last big moves, for the windows running right now.
Waiting for the windows. They appear as soon as the feed answers.
How to read this
Two windows run at once. Each is fixed to the clock, so a 5 minute window starts on :00, :05, :10 and so on.
Up or down
A window finishes Up when Bitcoin's price at its end is the same as at its start or higher. Move since the open shows where it stands now.
The lean
After an unusually big move in the window before, the page shows a lean the other way. It sits next to its live record, the share of leans that went their way since the tool started.
Move size now
How big a move to expect in this window, on the same scale as the Move Size page: Quiet, Calm, Normal, Lively or Wild. It says how far, never which way.
Understanding
Bitcoin 5 and 15 minute up or down windows
What are the 5 and 15 minute windows?
A window is a fixed stretch of the clock. Polymarket, a site where people place bets on events, runs a market on whether Bitcoin's price finishes each stretch up or down. A 5 minute window starts every 5 minutes and a 15 minute window every 15, on the hour's marks. This page follows the ones running now.
What is the lean?
The page measures how big the last window's move was against the usual size of a move that long over the past 30 days. Only about one move in twenty is big enough for a lean, and about one in a hundred for a strong lean. The lean points against the last move. It is a lean, not a call, and it is shown together with its live record.
How is the live record counted?
Each window with a lean is checked when it ends. It counts as going the lean's way if the price finished in the direction the lean pointed, with the same rule as the market (Up when the price is the same or higher). Only windows that ended after the tool started are counted, and the count is shown with the date it started. The price used is Maketo's own record, the middle price of three exchanges. Polymarket settles on its own price feed, which runs a little behind a fast move, so a window that ends close to where it began can settle the other way there.
