What is order book depth?
An order book is the list of orders waiting to buy and to sell at prices near the current one. Depth is how much money those orders add up to: the deeper the book, the bigger an order it can take before the price moves.
Why several distances?
Orders a hair away from the price matter most for a small trade, and the wider bands matter for a big one. Each exchange's page shows the book at three distances from the middle, on both sides.
Why only some exchanges?
Four exchanges have an order book page today, and each is a card here. The merged book on its own page adds up every exchange it covers.
